LogCentral features RBAC user management in a very simple manner.
A user can belong to one or several organizations, and have different roles across these organizations.
Users can be invited to organizations, removed from organizations and their role can be changed in these organizations.
Organizations only have one Owner.
User roles
Roles available: Owner, Member, Reader, Billing
Scope: Roles are per organization (you can have different roles in different orgs).
What you can do | Owner | Member | Reader | Billing |
View locations & logs | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ |
Create / edit / delete locations & IPs | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ |
Manage users (invite, remove, change roles) | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ |
View storage & monitoring | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ | ✗ |
Access billing portal & subscription | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✓ |
Delete the organization | ✓ | ✗ | ✗ | ✗ |
Tip: If you only need to look at things (logs, storage, audits), use Reader.
If you operate day-to-day (locations, IPs), use Member.
Finance only? Use Billing.
Roles are checked on every action; changes can take a few minutes to propagate.
Assign the least-privileged role that does the job (Reader → Member → Owner).
Use Billing to keep finance access separate from operational data.
Inviting a user
Just click the "Invite a user" in the top right hand corner of the Users page.
To invite a user, you need to have the Owner role.
Changing a user's role
To change a user's role, just click on the user you want to edit, click "Change role" and pick the new role you want to give to the user.
⚠️ If you change a user to Owner , you won't be the owner anymore and will be demoted to Member.
To change a user's role, you need to have the Owner role.
Leaving an organization
If you want to leave an organization you belong to, just click "Leave organization" on your own user.
You cannot leave an organization if you're its Owner. You first need to change another user's role to Owner, which will demote you to Member.
