Overview
Deleting a location in LogCentral is a permanent action that removes the location and all associated data from your organization.
This article explains the process and important considerations before proceeding with deletion.
⚠️ Warning: Location deletion is irreversible. All logs, configurations, and settings associated with the location will be permanently lost.
What Gets Deleted
When you delete a location, the following data is permanently removed:
All log data associated with the location
IP configurations and filtering rules
Location settings and configurations
Historical audit log entries related to the location (visible in organization audit logs for 90 days, but location context is lost)
Impact on Integrations
Cisco Meraki Integration
If your location was imported from Cisco Meraki:
The location will be removed from LogCentral
Your Meraki integration remains connected
The Meraki network itself is not affected
You can re-import the network later if needed by disconnecting and reconnecting your Meraki integration
To manage your Meraki integration, navigate to /organizations/:orgId/integrations.
Prerequisites
Before deleting a location, consider:
Export important logs - Once deleted, log data cannot be recovered
Document IP whitelist settings - If you need to recreate the location, you'll need to reconfigure IP filtering
Review audit logs - Check
/organizations/:orgId/audit-logsto understand recent location activityVerify permissions - Ensure you have the necessary organization role to delete locations
Common Use Cases
You might delete a location when:
Decommissioning a physical site or network
Cleaning up test/development locations
Removing duplicate or incorrectly configured locations
Reorganizing your location structure
Data Retention
Audit logs: Organization audit logs retain the deletion event for 90 days
Log data: All location-specific logs are immediately and permanently deleted
No recovery: There is no "undo" or recovery option after deletion
Best Practices
Export logs first: Download any logs you may need for compliance or historical reference
Screenshot configurations: Capture IP whitelist settings and other configurations before deletion
Communicate with team: Notify team members who may be accessing the location
Check dependencies: Review if any external systems or integrations rely on this location
After Deletion
Once a location is deleted:
The location disappears from your organization immediately
Team members lose access to the location and its logs
The deletion is recorded in your organization's audit logs
IP addresses previously whitelisted for this location are removed
