To forward syslogs from Windows to LogCentral, you'll need:
A Windows machine from which to forward logs
Since Microsoft Windows does not natively support syslogs, we need to install a small software to help us do that.
Installing the syslog forwarding software
Connect to the Windows machine from which you want to forward logs to LogCentral.
Download and install the following software that will help you do so. It is called SolarWinds Event Log Frowarder for Windows.
You can then check our step by step video or follow written instructions below.
Configuring SolarWinds Event Log Frowarder for Windows with LogCentral
Install the software as an administrator then start the software as an administrator.
In the Subscriptions tab, click "Add"
Then configure the kind of events you want to forward (or select them all) and click "Next"
In the "Define Priority" , you can make a specific setting , but otherwise stick with the original one and click "Finish".
Next, head to the "Syslog Servers" tab
Again, click "Add". In the window that opens, enter your LogCentral's location details, the custom IP address in the Server Address field and the UDP port in the port field communicated in the application.
Click "Create".
You're done!
